Description

Maritime Heritage Minnesota, a 501.c(3) non-profit, conducted a 104-mile nautical archaeological side and down imaging sonar survey of Aitkin County, MN in August 2010. Funded in part by the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants program - also known as the Legacy Amendment - this survey represents the first systematic remote sensing survey of any body of water in the State of Minnesota designed to record and recognize new archaeological sites. The Mississippi River Aikin County Survey Report 2010 chronicles the findings of the survey, including the recognition of three new maritime archaeological sites. In Copyright.
